A pretty thumbnail for the blog

As the Cupertino-giant rolls out with the new products this September we’re introduced to the 10th generation of the most famous accessory in the world, i.e., the Apple Watch. When it first launched in 2015, the company had no intentions to make the watch how it is today. It was more of an accessory back then but now is targeted as more of a health companion. So is it worth the hype? Has it received its X upgrade? Should you get one? Let’s get into it…

Shenanigans:

The design was the most anticipated aspect for the Series 10 as enthusiasts were expecting an ‘iPhone X’ treatment for the Apple Watch: bigger display, extremely thin bezels, new shape, Apple Intelligence, the shenanigans. But what Apple did give us is an extremely incremental upgrade. With the inclusion of the new S10 SiP and new LTPO 3 display, which can go up to 1 Hz of refresh rate, the Apple Watch Series 10 can now have a second-hand display in the always-on display. Nice. In addition to this, the Series 10 also introduces the world’s first wide-angle OLED display, which makes it visible from multiple angles & makes it less obvious if you’re checking notifications in a meeting where it would be rude to do so. With this, the bezels have also been thinned out to maximize the screen real-estate and also make the Series 10 with the largest display (even larger than the Ultra 2). With special attention to health features, Apple has also introduced Sleep Apnea detection (FDA approval is still pending), which can be a feature to help many. With this, they’ve also officially dropped the SpO2 sensor due to the lawsuit with its use in Apple products filed by Masimo.

On top of this, the Series 10 is shipped with watchOS 11, which makes it better in terms of software. And with the new Tides app, users will be able to know more about tides that reside near the coastlines.

Verdict:

So should you buy one? It’s a no-brainer. No!

The Apple Watch Series 10 is one of the most incremental in terms of upgrades in the entire Apple catalogue and should be only considered if (i) you’ve a lot of cash and want to buy the new shiny titanium version or (ii) if you’ve a Series 5 watch or older. Most of the features will be covered by the watchOS update, so look out for that and save some money…

Peace.
